Canadian Pure maple syrup competition

The results are in! Our Pure Canadian Maple syrup competition was a huge success, and was judged on Saturday 25th February 2017 at University College Birmingham. A total of 8 colleges competed in the competition, from the UK and Ireland. The competiton which was sponsored and supported by The Federation of Quebec Maple Syrup Producers saw bakery students and trainees produce products at their college and then send their entries to the venue. Our judges were David Colcombe who is the UK ambassador for the Federation of Quebec Maple Syrup Producers, and Colin Lomax our chairman of judges. Both judges were impressed by the innovation and variety of the products entered, and both commented on the amazing talent that is out there today. It was a very difficult competition to judge, as all products had fantastic elements to them. Competition Information

Produce one innovative bakery product using Canadian Pure Maple Syrup. You will also need to include a recipe and production details.
  • ​Must contain a minimum of 5% *Canadian Pure Maple Syrup on flour weight.
  • Can be any type of product including bread, pastry, cake & biscuit.
  • Any decoration must be hand made.
  • More than one item may be presented for judging.
  • Items to be displayed on a cake board no larger than 25cm x 25cm.

​*Samples of the Pure Maple Syrup will be sent to colleges for practising and entry into competition on request. When you have completed your application form you will be given the contact details to arrange delivery.

​Marks will be allocated for innovation, creative use of maple syrup, commercial viability, visual appeal and taste.
