How to raise funds for conference

Mairéad McCabe of DIT gives us her insights on how the baking society is pulling together to raise funds

So a few of you have been asking how you can raise funds for ABST events such as conference 2018. Heres how Dublin college have been using ingredients sponsored by O'Brien ingredients in Ireland. Making the most of opportunities such as Halloween, Christmas, Easter and other events can really boost your fundraising and help everyone involved to reduce the cost of events, meaning you have some extra money in your pocket! So to read more about how Dublin used Halloween to raise 300 euros, Mairéad McCabe of the Dublin Baking Society explains further

"Mairéad here from the Dublin Institute of Technology Baking Society. You may remember about a week or so ago we spoke on Facebook. Since then our society has had a bake sale, which you were interested in writing about, I think?
The Baking Society baked and decorated cupcakes in college (ingredients sponsored by O’Brien Ingredients) to sell around two of our campuses to raise money. Cupcakes were sold individually and in boxes of six.  The sales were a great success as we raised close to €300! This money will help subsidise the cost of sending the bakery students to the ABST conference and competition next June. We intend to have a few more fundraisers throughout the year, to get the cost of the trip as low as possible for the students! I’ve attached some photographs of the sale for you.

As you can see from Dublin's example, it really is great to raise funds this way, and reduces the cost of conference for all your members, whether its tickets or travel costs.
