#ABSTConference2026 |
As announced at the AGM on Friday 13th June 2025, for #ABSTConference2026 we need our members support and feedback. Many of our members have suggested that the current format of our National Conference is challenging in terms of the cost of living, meaning that many of our members unfortunately cannot attend. The alliance wants to ensure that as many members as possible can attend our events, and as a result we are asking for you, our members to suggest changes to enable this to happen.

...what type of changes?Don't worry, the core aims of the alliance remain the same, including the valuable networking opportunities, support and national competitions. This is really focusing on the cost of conference. So thinking about venue for example. When we first held conference at Alton Towers in 2010, the student cost for a ticket was £150, but due to the rise in costs for booking the venue, hotels and so on, this has increased gradually over the past 15 years.
So we are asking you for suggestions on things like the venue and the date of conference. Would conference be better split up over the year into smaller conferences and networking sessions? Does it have to be over a whole weekend, or would it be better to hold it over two days? Would conference be better held in the working week rather than a weekend for example? These are just some of the points that we are looking at, but we welcome lots of suggestions from our members, lecturers and our industry sponsors on how we can make conference more affordable for all members that wish to attend. |
How do we provide ideas? |
We will be providing our members, lecturers and industry supporters with the opportunity to provide ideas and feedback online. This will be in the form of a survey, with the opportunity to provide ideas for the ABST Committee to review. It will not only be essential, but valuable to get as many ideas as possible from all members so that we can make #ABSTConference2026 as inclusive as possible. Click the button below to take the survey now and keep an eye on social media over the next few weeks for more information on how you can help shape conferences in the future!
