What is a Student Rep? 

We’ve had many questions come through about the specifics of the Student Rep role but fear no more because you’re about to find out. 
 
As you may be aware each College/University now have their own ABST groups. These groups are designed to improve the communication within their own institution but also with the ABST. Therefore, the committee have decided to create a "Student Rep" role. Please see below the key points needed to be a successful student rep:

1. Communicate and update their group regularly, engaging all students.
2. Share relevant information such as videos and pictures
3. Inspire other members by sharing new ideas of what your college/university have been up to
4. Each college / uni will write at least one blog per year. The blog could be about guest speakers that have visited or a day trip to a bakery. The aim of this is to share what you have been up to and motivate other students to share their own experiences.
5. Share what products you’ve been making; it is difficult to take the plunge to share but this may help other students build up the courage to share their work snd ideas too. 
6. You will have the opportunity to attend the ABST meetings; it’s a great way to put forth your thoughts and ideas you may have to help the ABST to keep moving forward (this may include ideas for the next year’s fancy dress themes). 
7. HAVE FUN and enjoy the experience. Becoming a student rep will ultimately improve your confidence, CV and your involvement with the ABST/Industry. 

The blog! 
Each College/University will be assigned a month to write their blog. This doesn’t mean you write about what’s happened within that month, it just means that is when the blog will be posted. This is why it’s important to collate information throughout the year to make sure the blog is interesting and fun. It could include competitions that students have entered, new products created or even sharing what work experience you have been on.
